RTS Waste likes the Renault Trucks dealer and the truck

RTS Waste Management has added five new Renault Trucks to its fleet, citing standout customer service from Renault Trucks Essex and vehicle durability as the key criteria in its purchase decision.
One Range C480 drawbar unit equipped with Hyva hookloader equipment and four Range D18.250 fitted with Boughton skip loaders have been added to the 40-strong fleet; two further Range C460.32 8×2/6 rear steer refuse collection vehicles with Incomol Belgium dustcart compactor bodywork are scheduled for delivery in November.
Matt Jeffery, Transport Manager at RTS Waste is relentless in his praise for the team at Renault Trucks Essex in West Thurrock. He says: “It’s quite simple – Renault Trucks make my life easier. All you want to know in this business is that if a problem happens, it will get sorted and the truck will be back on the road ASAP. The team at West Thurrock is, in my opinion, the best; you just can’t beat them. That’s why I insisted on Renault Trucks for our latest additions.”
Matt continues, ”The level of service from the team there is second-to-none. Spencer Thorne, the workshop controller, is unbelievable and Mark Edgell, the salesman, James Patten and Neil McCarthy on the front desk and Lee Pullen, the night shift supervisor, are all brilliant.”
“Basically if we break it, they fix it and if they can’t fix it they will get a replacement. The uptime is great and I can’t fault them at all,” he adds.
Matt is equally animated in his praise for the Renault Trucks range: “As well as excellent service from the dealership, I’ve also had great experiences with the Renault Trucks vehicles and this was all instrumental in getting them into our fleet. These latest additions bring the total number of Renault Trucks to 14, which is testament to the belief we have in both the product and the back-up service.”
As RTS Waste prides itself on meeting customer’s stringent recycling targets and making improvements to their bottom line, vehicle durability was key. As Matt says, “The trucks are being used for very strenuous jobs on a daily basis and with multiple drivers, all with differing driving styles, so the trucks can take a serious pounding. They are put to the test on tips, landfills and around the potholed London streets. The Renaults are more than up to the job; they are total workhorses!”
Fitted with the Optitronic 6AS 1000 automated gearbox and clutch, the D18s come with 6 forward gears and 1 reverse gear with automatic, manual and manoeuvre mode use control and gear selection at the steering wheel.
Matt concludes, “To be honest, the drivers didn’t like the sound of driving a Renault truck initially, but now they absolutely love them and think they are perfect to drive. The automated gearbox and gear change in particular is excellent and just right for our type of operation.”
